My Everyday Skin Care Routine (Part 2)

The number one rule I like to stick to in my skincare routine is that I never go to bed without taking my makeup off. I cannot stress just how important this is to your routine. If you don’t remove your makeup properly you can end up with bad breakouts. Looking after your skin will help prevent dehydration but also prevent and treat premature signs of ageing.

I always recommend doing a double cleanse in the morning and the evening. This helps to make sure that every trace of makeup, excess sebum and dirt from the skin. It also helps to hydrate the skin and I find that one’s skin can become dehydrated throughout the day.

My go to cleanser at the moment is by Soap and Glory and it’s called Peaches and Clean deep cleansing milk. I love this cleanser because it is gentle on the skin and doesn’t cause break out or clogging of the pores. It also helps to keep the skin hydrated.

Elemis produce a cleanser called Pro-collagen cleansing balm. I like to use this twice a week, but use sparingly as it is quite heavy on the skin. This helps to hydrate the skin and also has anti ageing properties. It can be used as a treatment once a week. I love to use it when I’m having a soak in the bath.

Those who say you don’t need a toner are wrong because it is essential in your skincare routine. It not only helps to make sure that all traces of your makeup are removed but it also helps to remove impurities. A toner helps to reduce pores, making them less noticeable. Some toners actually help to hydrate the skin and can even be sprayed over your makeup during the day.

My favourite toner is by Soap and Glory and it’s their Drama clean 5-in-1 micellar cleansing water. It acts as a cleanser and a toner combined and can be used to remove eye makeup and face makeup. I find it super refreshing and hydrating on my skin.

I usually exfoliate my skin twice a week with a gentle scrub. This helps to remove the dead skin cells from the surface of the face, leaving me with a brighter and radiant glowing skin. If you have a sensitive skin I would recommend that you either use a gentle exfoliator or mix a cleanser into a scrub to make it less abrasive.

The exfoliator I am using on my skin at the moment is by Skinfood and it’s their Black sugar scrub. I find this leaves my skin soft and smooth without irritation.

I adore face masks and there are so many choice available. You can choose between a sheet mask, peel off or wash off mask. I like to apply a facemask twice a week. This is very relaxing and the skin also benefits from the extra hydration it receives from a mask!

The face masks I recommend are The Glam glow Thirstymud which is a hydrating treatment that you can actually leave on over night! This mask is one of my favourites for that exact reason. I also adore Guinot’s Dynamisant anti-fatigue face mask. It helps to hydrate the skin and revives a dull skin.

I use a face serum twice a day under my moisturiser. I feel my skin really benefits from the extra boost of moisture that a face serum gives my skin.

I’ve been using Pestle and Mortar’s Pure Hyaluronic serum for a while now and I find it really has helped my skin. It not only helps to hydrate but it also helps give my skin a brighter appearance and reduces signs of ageing.

Face Oil

I like to use a face oil on my skin as it sinks into the deeper layers. These oils are often packed with essential nutrients and antioxidants.

Trilogy Rosehip oil is one of the best oils that I have come across and I have been using it constantly for the last few months. You can mix this oil into your moisturiser. This oil helps to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and smoothes and hydrates the skin.

During the day I like to use a moisturiser with an SPF in it as I want to protect my skin from the elements. A moisturiser helps to hydrate the skin and keeps it from becoming dry.

My recommened moisturiser is by MooGoo and it contains an SPF as well as anti ageing properities.

Eye cream

It is super important to use an eye cream no matter what age you are. if you are in your early 20’s it is recommended that you start using a hydrating eye cream rather than an anti ageing one.

The eye cream I use is Guinot Longue Vie Yeux. I find this particularly good as it not only reduces the appearance of dark circles but it also helps to minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

Hand Cream

I love a good hand cream. I generally look for one that soaks into the skin straight away leaving little to no residue. I have been using Zoella’s Winter wonderhand cream recently. I adore the scent of this hand cream and also find that it helps to nourish my hands!
